April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals during more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo for her third gold in the next few days. Ross is also hoping to win her very first Olympic gold. This may be the last opportunity she gets to do so at the age of 39. She remains optimistic that she will be able to win top awards. Ross on NBC Boston, said that if the team plays consistently or well it could be able to win gold. That's why I'm taking the chance also. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and her sister resided there. She was able to participate in numerous sports in Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school she played the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running track. Though she excelled when playing indoors however, it was evident that her performance was above average. As per her biography in high school, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). For her efforts, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in 2000. Ross and Klineman started the partnership in 2017, However, Ross has been a beach star for years before. She has won major tournaments twice with different partners. The other has become an iconic player in the volleyball world. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years between 2007 and the year 2013. She also worked with Klineman and herself. Kessy was Ross's teammate at the World Championships in 2009. They went into winning a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, overtaking them. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she announced her retirement. In 2016, the duo took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross competed for USC Trojans throughout her college years before becoming a professional. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the college level. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans get to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal setback but managed to make it back as an All-American. In her final two seasons with the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. The individual accomplishments of her have established her as a volleyball legend. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross did not get to watch her daughter's climb to fame as a beach volleyball player. Ross's mom died from breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. Ross holds her mother very dearly. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her at and off the beaches.
